Quanah Parker was the last Comanche war chief.   General Phil Sheridan gave orders that the Comanche be destroyed forever.   'Bad Hand' Mackinzie caught the Comanche in Palo Duro Canyon.  They captured their horse herd first, killing 30,000 head of horses and mules.  This broke the power of the "finest horsemen on the Plains," forcing the Comanche to surrender forever!   Artist:  Robert Learned Hand
