Ben announced a few rodeos I competed in,
helped me get work as a stunt rider and bit parts as "Third Indian on the Left."
Even though he won the Oscar for "The Last Picture Show," he once told me
he thought he'd always be the third cowboy on the right, when he wasn't holding John
Wayne's horse. This painting was done out of deep feeling and respect for a man who
earned his way. I hope if there is an after-life, Ben has picked out a good horse
for me, and we get a chance to hoist a glass again! He's a friend deeply missed. Artist: Robert Learned Hand
